Top 10 Foods for Lowering Cholesterol

Too many Americans have high cholesterol. Healthy eating can help you avoid being one of them! The top foods for lowering cholesterol are some of my favorite parts of my diet!

Today I want to share my “Top 10 Foods for Lowering Cholesterol”

Over HALF of Americans have elevated cholesterol levels so please make note of these foods – most of which are scrumptious!  

  • Nuts – any variety
  • Seeds – any variety, especially flax and chia seeds
  • Beans- any variety
  • Oats – Old Fashioned or steel cut oats best
  • Oat bran
  • Barley
  • Whole soy foods – plain soy milk, tofu, tempeh, and edamame
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Avocados
  • Berries

Try this delicious recipe that I call the 5-Minute Superstar Breakfast featuring nuts and seeds!

  • 1 cup of frozen berries
  • 1/2 banana
  • 1/2 cup plain kefir or greek yogurt
  • 2 Tbsp. hemp seeds
  • 1 Tbsp. chia seeds
  • 2 Tbsp. 100% canned pumpkin
  • Pinch of cinnamon
  • Optional additional ingredients:
  • Oatmeal – steel cut oats
  • Homemade granola
  • 1 tsp. bee pollen
  • Drizzle of raw honey

DIRECTIONS

Simply microwave the berries and banana for about 1-minute, stir them together, then add some or all of the ingredients listed above.
