Past studies have repeatedly identified snacking as a risk factor for weight gain. As such, it was disheartening to learn that Americans are snacking at an all-time high. Based on this evaluation, snacking accounts for a whopping 25% of our daily calories or an average of 580 calories a day! Even more alarming, half of our snack calories are coming from sugary beverages, which have emerged as the most fattening of all forms of calories. (Institute of Food Technologist, June 2011)
For optimal success with body weight, I strongly recommend that you eat breakfast, lunch and dinner and include NO MORE than a single mid-afternoon snack. And of course avoid ALL sugary beverages.
