Why to Avoid Meal Replacement Bars

energy bars granola bars protein

I do not recommend meal replacement bars because I prefer that you obtain your nutrients and calories from REAL foods. Meal replacement bars are a “classic” factory-made, processed food and many contain the amount of sugar you would get from a dessert.

In fact, the best way to think of them is a cookie amped up with added vitamins and protein (and there is no evidence this has any health value). To see what I mean about “processed,” check out the ingredients list for yourself and try to count how many are present in nature – good luck finding many!

If you must, choose the healthy varieties (no added sugars, high in fiber!) for a snack – just make sure you know (and can pronounce) all the ingredients!
