Best Foods for Getting Soluble Fiber


Soluble fiber is great for you! This indigestible form of plant carbohydrate has many health benefits including: lowering cholesterol, stabilizing insulin and glucose levels, promoting satiety, and protecting against belly fat accumulation.

Here are the foods that provide the most soluble fiber:

  • Beans (any variety)
  • Peas
  • Barley
  • Flax seeds
  • Chia seeds
  • Oats
  • Oat bran
  • Avocado
  • Carrots
  • Collards
  • Oranges
  • Apples


Try this delicious salad with oranges!

Spinach Salad with Oranges and Avocado

Serves 4-6

I love avocado with fresh fruit in salads!


  • 1  5 oz container  fresh organic baby spinach
  • 1 orange, peeled and divided into segments
  • 1 ripe avocado, sliced
  • 2 tbsp. chopped dill


Combine all ingredients in a bowl. Toss gently with dressing ( any vinaigrette best) just before serving.
