There is now a mountain of scientific evidence that belly (visceral) fat is particularly dangerous so I am excited to share results from a new report that identified two simple strategies for fighting this menace. For this evaluation, Wake Forest researchers followed 1,114 people over a 5-year period to determine what dietary and lifestyle factors may reduce belly fat accumulation. Thankfully, the researchers found that both soluble fiber and moderate physical activity proved to winning waist-whittling endeavors. For every 10 grams of soluble fiber consumed daily, belly fat was reduced by 3.7%. Moderate physical activity (like brisk walking) proved to be an even better belly fat buster – slowing the build up of belly fat by 7.4%.
