Reach for olive oil to lower your cancer risk. In a review study that included the results of 45 previously published studies, scientists observed a significant protective effect of consuming olive oil for several types of cancer.
Those who had the most robust consumption of olive oil were 31 percent less likely to develop cancer of any type relative to those consuming the least olive oil.
Additional analysis found that the highest olive oil consumers were 23 percent less likely to get gastrointestinal cancers, 33 percent less likely to get breast cancer, 26 percent less likely to get esophageal cancers, and 54 percent less likely to get urinary tract cancers.
