Green Tea for Lowering Cholesterol

tea mountains

If you want to have healthy cholesterol levels I would recommend that you include some green tea with your repertoire of cholesterol-lowering foods. Sipping on green tea is one of my most cherished daily rituals so I was particularly inspired by a report that provided strong evidence that this is indeed a heart-healthy habit.

For this evaluation, researchers combined the results of 14 former clinical trials looking at green tea and its effects on cholesterol levels. The analysis revealed that consuming green tea provides a significant reduction in cholesterol levels. Yay!! I cannot think of anything else that can be consumed that has been shown to lower cardiovascular risk, boost immunity, improve bone health, reduce cancer risk, reduce stress effects, and protect brain health – all for zero calories. Go green tea! (American Journal of Clinical Nutrition August 2011)
