Health Hack: Make Your Own Salad Dressings

Get into the habit of making your own salad dressings and forget the store-bought brands.  It’s simple, quick, healthier, cheaper, and tastes so much better.

My go-to is… (Blend these together with a fork!)

  • extra virgin olive oil (1/4 cup)
  • apple cider vinegar (1/4 cup)
  • brown mustard (1 big spoonful)
  • curry (1/2 tbsp)
  • honey (2 tbsp)

One of my favorites is:

Cilantro-Honey Dressing

Serves 6-8

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup fresh lime juice

  • 1/4 cup extra virgin  olive oil

  • 2 tbsp honey

  • 2 and 1/2 tbsp finely chopped fresh cilantro

  • 1 garlic clove, peeled and minced

  • tsp chopped jalapeño pepper 

Directions

Combine all ingredients in a cup. Whisk together to emulsify and taste for seasoning. Adjust if too limey or oily by adding more of either or increasing honey. Can be stored in fridge for up to 3 days.
